Designed under the expert guidance of the leading world Neanderthal specialists and under the scientific control of professors Y. Coppens and B. Vandermeersch, the Paléosite is the most modern Prehistoric centre in the world.
Located on the very spot where the last Neanderthal girl (dating back 35 000 years) was discovered, the centre is equipped with the latest technology for image processing, scenography and special effects.

In the 2000m2 indoor, air-conditioned Centre you are invited to meet Neanderthal Man. Your adventure begins with the discovery of an archaeological site, then on foot or by lift, you will go into the Centre to discover the displays and activities which will take you back 15 billion years in time to the centre of the Big Bang and the first appearance of life.
On the programme: film shows on giant screens, 3D animations, integral scanner, arm wrestling with a Neanderthal and facial morphing!!

Discover the outdoor trail, in a life size area recreating the living spaces of prehistoric man: habitats, mammouth cemeteries, animals and from 2012, homo-sapiens and neanderthals.

"The European Neanderthal” Exhibition (Neandertal l'Européen)
On display in the main hall of the Paléosite Centre in Saint-Césaire, this exhibition takes you to meet a fascinating stage of humanity which existed long before we did and disappeared 30 000 years before our age.
