The centre is owned by the town and is managed by the Comité des Fêtes, Foires et Salons (Committee of Festivals and Fairs) of La Rochelle. Every year, in addition to the events it chooses itself, it plays host to three local events: the Miss La Rochelle ball, the Cavalcade and the 14th July fireworks. The exhibition centre was built in 1973 and has 3 buildings:
The first dates from 1976, has a surface area of 5,400m2 and can transform into auditoriums with a capacity of 5,000 – 6,000.
The second building has a surface area of 3,100m2 and was built in 1981.
The third building has a surface area of 2,300m2, counts 5 annex rooms of 50m2 each and 2 of 100m2.
Its size makes it possible to organise all types of event: exhibitions, shows, concerts or major sporting events that require large spaces. For all these activities, the centre is either the organiser or a service provider for a third party.
