| You can also make the most of your visit to the Château d’Oléron by visiting the oyster huts of artists and craftsmen on the harbour. Created in 2000, its mission was rehabilitating the unused huts by buying them up, renovating them and then letting them to artists. This visit is the opportunity to discover their work and their world. |

The nature site and oyster farm of Fort-Royer on the coast in the south of Boyardville, stretches over a zone of 10 hectares remarkable for its flora, wildlife and the beauty of its landscapes and extraordinary views over the Ile d’Aix and the Charente straits. A living example of traditional oyster culture, the site includes a village of around 40 huts, a third of which are still in use. A local association organises visits to explore this marvellous natural environment, and learn about the profession of oyster farming in the Marennes-Oléron basin. |
