Jonzac

Stronghold of the Haute-Saintonge in the South of Charente-Maritime, Jonzac is a beautiful town, full of history. This ancient Huguenot city surrounds the imposing château, built in the 11th century and extensively rebuilt in the 15th. The old town, bearing witness to an eventful past, stands on the Mont Balaguier. Just next to the old town, the Montguimar hill plays host to the church of Saint-Gervais and old stone houses.
 

A thermal city

Jonzac is the site of the first thermal baths complex of the Midi Atlantique. The hot springs are set in an exceptional environment; this modern and completely troglodytic centre is the only one of its kind in Europe. Specialising in the treatment of rheumatism and respiratory complaints, the hot springs also offer short fitness breaks.

Countryside and entertainment

Jonzac, with the La Seugne river - a tributary of La Charente - running through it, is scattered with footbridges, making it easy to enjoy this pretty waterway, home to a large number of ducks. With a warm and sunny climate at the heart of a rich and varied countryside and not far from the coast, the environs of Jonzac are ideal for unforgettable walks.
A large variety of events are on offer, with, in particular, musical events in the most beautiful settings of the town, and in the casino. Open all year round, the aquatic centre ‘Les Antilles de Jonzac’ is a destination of guaranteed sunshine and a taste of the exotic. Here a tropical lagoon awaits you (swimming pool with wave machine, slide, jacuzzi, geysers…), as well as fitness and beauty areas.
