The open sea, shellfish and crustaceans.
The many fine sandy beaches in Charente-Maritime offer an entire world of endless fun and relaxation. Every day the sea comes in and goes out, as if the Atlantic were breathing, providing the rhythm for children’s games - building sandcastles, marbles on the wet sand, crabbing or picking up sea shells…
A quality label for the disabled
Many beaches now have the ‘Handiplage’ (Handibeach) quality label and have full amenities for people with reduced mobility. They can offer visitors specially adapted equipment such as the ‘Tiralo’, an amphibious wheelchair that is perfectly adapted for swimming. Just ask for it at the lifeguard station.
Supervised beaches
Most resorts have lifeguard stations on the beaches during the tourist season, guaranteeing safe swimming for young and old alike. So no need to worry, the lifeguards are at their posts keeping a watchful eye on you!
A children’s paradise
There are many beach clubs available to make friends or have fun on the sand with instructors organising all sorts of activities.
