The departement’s boating sector is internationally reputed. Its renown is based on several factors. Boating has a genuine history having been present here for many years. The number of leading naval architects, the quality of the engineering and design departments, and the expertise of the shipyards are all contributing factors to its renown. What is more, the many marinas, the most prestigious being the Port des Minimes with its 3,300 moorings, add to this reputation. And finally the many boating events – races, fairs – attract many people.
The boating sector is comprised of three branches of activity: boat construction, services (sale, rental and maintenance) and technical activities (sail-making, upholsterers and so on). |
